Curator Dalida Kibir presents this multi-media exhibition of Spanish artists who traveled abroad to find their true selves as humans and artists. A manifest of change and choice en route to fulfilling their dreams.
Amanda Arroutea's paintings are based on the acute awareness that we live in a phallocentric society that sexualizes the female body. Arroutea "Mermaids" series displays empowered women showing themselves as they are - bluntly and honestly - without garments or decoration.
Lino Escalera's filmmaking career began in Madrid while studying business. His move to New York and Cuba gave him the opportunity to study film, and begin directing and writing. We will screen "Australia" - his 4th short film - which won 26 awards at national and international festivals and was Nominated for Best Fiction Short Film at the 31st Goya Awards in 2018.
Amanda Arroutea moved to Mexico in 2015 where she discovered the magic of the ancient cenotes which inspired her to paint her “Mermaids” series. Based on the acute awareness that we live in a phallocentric society that sexualizes the female body; Arroutea displays empowered women showing themselves as they are - bluntly and honestly -without garments or decoration. These “Mermaids” are immersed in the depth of their inner voice; ancestral and true.
Goya Awards nominiert. Dies ist ein spanischsprachiger Film.
