In this collection, Ina Djurković explores the relationship between femininity, strength, and the rejection of softness as weakness. Each painting reflects the tension of becoming powerful while holding onto vulnerability, showing the body as both a place of resistance and memory.

Recently the artist found herself painting abstract portraits of women. Her women are metaphor for her feelings. The color palette she is currently working with is especially important to her. She thinks that women of her generation learned how to be strong women. Women who can do anything by themselves. She learned how to be unapologetic and tough. For her personally, the biggest struggle was to remain soft, delicate and gentle. And not be ashamed of it. She felt the strong urge to run away from pink and gentler palettes. Somewhere along the way, femininity and emotion have become synonymous with weakness for her. Over time, her paintings evolved. They have become gentle, soft and feminine. Becoming this feminine, being tender and vulnerable was a process. Ina thinks millennial women were taught to equate softness with weakness, suppressing parts of ourselves to survive in a world that misunderstands vulnerability.

The collection is visual manifestation of the internalized struggle between the self and the weight of societal expectation. Ina wanted to create a visual reminder that resistance is not always loud, and that even in the most muted forms of revolt, there is an undeniable strength. Finally, she doesn't seek to resolve the tension between power and softness but to live within it. There is a deep moral question embedded in this collection. Are women only strong when the reject softness? Or is true power found in embracing vulnerability, even when the world punishes it?
