As an architect, artist, and environmentalist Lisa Reindorf has focused on the confluence of built structures and nature. Most of her artwork has dealt with building into fragile ecosystems and the conflict between natural and architectural systems.
Currently she focuses on the positive and regenerative process of nature to defend our cities against sea level rise. Instead of the destruction of sea level rise with floods and water pollution, she paints scenes of nature protecting, such as mangroves that provide a bolster against sea level rise. Other paintings portray marshes as flood defense and other natural solutions.
Nature inspires and nurtures us. And we must nurture it it in return. Education, research and environmental advocacy are a key part of Reindorf's art practice. She has lectured extensively at universities, galleries and conferences about art and environmental issues. We can all continue learning.
